چکیده
Abstract. Large microwave surface emissivities with a highly heterogeneous distribution and the relatively small hydrometeor signal over land make it challenging to use satellite data retrieve precipitation be assimilated into numerical models. To better understand emissivity surfaces, we designed established ground observation system for in situ of several typical surfaces. The major components include dual-frequency polarized radiometer, mobile platform, auxiliary sensors measure temperature soil moisture; moreover, fields are comprising five different Based on observed from system, preliminarily investigated variations results show that horizontally is more sensitive variability than vertically is: former decreases 0.75 cement increases 0.90 sand bare up 0.97 grass. corresponding polarization difference obvious water (>0.3) (approximately 0.25) but reduces 0.1 0.05 almost 0.01 or close zero grass; this trend similar Tb difference. At elevation angles, horizontally/vertically surfaces obviously increase/slightly decrease increasing angles exhibit opposite water.

A Parameterized Microwave Emissivity Model for Bare Soil Surfaces
Due to the difficulty in accurately interpreting surface emissivity spectra, problems remain in the application of passive microwave satellite observations over land surfaces. This study develops a parameterized soil surface emissivity model to quantify the microwave emissivity accurately and rapidly for Gaussian-correlated rough surfaces. We first analyze the sensitivity of surface emissivity ...
متن کاملTreatment of Surface Emissivity for Satellite Microwave Data Assimilation
Observations from satellite microwave instruments have a large information content and are known to improve the quality of global analyses of the atmosphere. However, the use of these observations remains far from being optimal. Indeed, only microwave observations, for which the surface contribute the least, are currently assimilated. This restriction is mainly due to remaining uncertainties ab...
متن کاملDesign and Development of a Ground-based Microwave Radiometer System
This paper presents the design and development of a ground-based microwave radiometer system (MWR) for the offshore oil platform. It will be used to provide long time series of geophysical parameters such as the sea-surface temperature, the near-surface wind speed and the sea ice type. The ground-based MWR is a five-frequency, dual-polarized microwave radiometer which is a total power type micr...
متن کاملUbiquitous Augmented Reality Mobile Learning System for Supporting Moon Observation
It is possible to improve a student’s understanding of the concept of lunar phases by using Observation Based Learning (OBL). The observation of lunar phases is often restricted by time, place, and weather. Furthermore, new students may lose patience over time. In this study, a smartphone based on the Android platform was used as a mobile device. Context-awareness was combined with Augmented Re...
